Random Notifications

Random Notifications

Received random notices for my driver, what do I need to do?

All random selections should be completed by the target date. But no worries if there’s a scheduling issue—those dates are just guidelines. If an employee isn’t available, you can submit them for testing after the target date, as long as it’s before the end of the selection period.

When scheduling their appointment, make sure the employee gets the random notification and a copy of the Chain of Custody Form (CCF). This helps them have all the necessary information and documents ready for their visit.

Remember, the selections will be finalized on the last day of the selection period. Tests completed after that may not count toward your compliance with the DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program and could still be billable.

When to send an employee for a random

Random drug tests should be conducted while your employee is actively on duty.

Random alcohol tests can be done just before, during, or immediately after their duty.

For owner-operators, all notifications should be followed by testing immediately after they’re notified.

Make sure to notify your employee or driver and send them to the collection site right away—no advance notice should be given.
