Dash | FMCSA Safety Insights Carrier and Risk Profile

Risk Profile

What it is:

The Risk Profile offers a visual summary of your FMCSA compliance risk—covering inspections, crashes, violations, and OOS (Out-of-Service) percentages—using FMCSA data specific to your DOT number(s).

What you'll see:

  • Inspection Risk: Based on Inspection Selection System (ISS) score
  • Safety Rating:  Regularly assigned by FMCSA

Why it matters:

FMCSA uses these risk measures to prioritize carriers for investigations or warnings. Staying below national thresholds helps you avoid interventions or HMSP (HazMat Safety Permit) denials.

Learn More: FMCSA publishes the methodology for the Inspection Selection System (ISS) here.

Carrier Information

What it is:

Click See Carrier Details to see a quick reference panel showing your essential company data as reported to FMCSA: DOT number, operational status, power unit and driver counts, and the last MCS-150 update date.

Why it matters:

Ensuring this info is accurate helps reduce data mismatches when FMCSA evaluates your inspections, crashes, or federal records. Discrepancies here could impact how your BASICs or risk metrics are computed.

Learn More: The MCS150 form must be updated every two years; inaccuracies may affect violation attribution or risk calculations under FMCSA programs (FMCSA guidance document)
